Porsche Crest Carrera 3.0 1978 type 666 engine

He guys,

I recently bought a 1970 911. I just love the car and want to restore it to it's original state.

The only "downside" to the car is that over the years the previous owner upgraded the engine to a carrera 3.0 type 666. He wanted to race the car, but eventually didn't.

I know this engine is very rare and sought after, but I don't have a clou where to watch and look. Does anybody here know how much the carrera engine is worth and where could I find an original 911 engine?

Anyone interested maybe?

Thanks in advance. (I really like this forum)

Best regards,
Gerard (The Netherlands)

C3 engines are indeed sought after.
Check the type of the engine (on the fan suport casting, right side, below the engine number). It should read 930/02 or 930/12

Gerard,

Welcome to the Forum.
You will find a lot of help here.

I recommend you find a complete 2.2T engine and buy it outright. This will give you time to go through it properly and restore it to original as you want. Of course you can build a 2.8S that appears to be a 2.2T.

Once you have the engine ready to install, advertise your C3 engine. This allows a prospective buyer to have it inspected in running condition. This will better satisfy everyone – you will get top Euro and the buyer will have the best chance to know want he is buying.

Post a WTB (Want To Buy) on the Pelican classifieds Porsche 911 Used Parts For Sale & Wanted looking for a ’70-’71 911T complete rebuildable engine. The rebuild/restoration will probably be much more expensive than the used engine. Almost for sure you are going to want a lot of little details in the engine compartment.

Is the original Type 911/01 transmission still installed?

There are quite a number of competent and honest rebuilders here in the States that can build you an engine. There are a few flakes and crooks so consult. If you want I’ll advise off-forum at gradyclayathotmaildotcom.

Best,
Grady

Gerard:

I have a complete, running '71T engine with 60,000 original miles. It was pulled from the car 2 months ago for a power transplant.

I am not looking to sell it, but would be willing to trade it plus cash (I pay you) for your 3.0 engine if it is indeed a euro carrera 3.0.

Please PM me if you'd like to discuss.
