In 1984, the M491 option.

Did this option include a limited slip differential?

In 1984, Porsche also introduced the M491 option. Officially called the Supersport, it was commonly known as the "Turbo-look". It was a style that resembled the Porsche 930 Turbo with wide wheel arches and the distinctive "tea tray” tail.

I have the original window sticker for my car. Kind of odd. No sport package, spoilers chin lips etc. But the guy ordered it with a LSD. Lucky me!

Mark - ever have the clutch pack in it checked/replaced? I have heard they are fairly short lived (if it's original I would think it needs a rebuild). Guard will do it, for one.

I also have the diff (factory option), how can you tell if it needs to be serviced?

Really don't know (assume a visual inspection is one way) but I bet a call to Guard will get you an answer if no one pipes in here...

No service required. If you detect "chatter" during city driving while going around corners, it's possible that your diff needs an additive designed for limited slip. Chatter will cause premature wear, so be sure this doesn't happen.

So Peter, are you saying the clutches never wear out in normal-heavy (track) use?

I use the swepco oil. Is that the right kind for the limited slip diff?
