Oh-oh Motorman didn't have any 360's or 264's. He recommended 201's

Fuel Injector Bosch 0280150201

I'll let you know how they work when I get them.

Rick,

First the injectors I used are the 364s not the 360s.

The 364s ran just fine (maybe a tad bit lean) all I did was reset the mixture after I installed them. I also ran full WOT test with my WBO2 monitor they are spot on drop ins for the stock 158s. See post above that shows side by side graphs of AFR at WOT for the 158s vs 364s.

Rick,

#0-280-150-201 is a BMW injector and will most likely work OK as a replacement for the 158s but the 201s are prone to leak around the body so if you use these keep an eye on them.

Just got my 3.2 motronic project running and became very interested in injectors. Very informative and test orientated information. Really cleared up a lot of concepts I had and provided very important information with test backup. This information also contained a look inside the DME and its wiring diagram. Very glad the thread was re-activated.

Need to read up on this subject.

Thanks,
Steve Hurt

+1 on the BMW Injectors, I have been running them for couple of years now and absolutely NO ISSUES.

I opted for these because of the metal tip design.

I recently understood and learned, cleaning may not be the only issue with any injectors, there is actually a small micro mesh filter inside that if heavy enough deposit gets stuck there no amount of cleaning will cure it. a .45-75 cent part

UDATE: Once again we have source for new injectors.

Motorman now is offering brand new Bosch 364 injectors, these are brand new not refurbished/rebuilt bosch injectors. The 364 injectors are perfect drop in replacements for the stock 158s in the 84-89 3.2L Carrera. Set of 6 are $270.00 see his listing New Bosch Fuel Injector 0280150364

The 364 injector has the metal tip that I really like and recommend, the 360 has plastic tip. The metal tips keep them from heat soaking when the engine is shutdown, they seem to stay cleaner than the plastic tips.

I'm in no way making any money on this, just want to help fella Porsche folks out.

First, I already spoke with Wayne about this post.

I'd like to find out how many folks may be seriously interested in moving to injectors such as these modern day injectors?
HFP 24lb Flow Matched Fuel Injectors Ford F250 F350 F450 Excursion 6 8L V10 | eBay
I'm considering packaging a kit that includes these injectors with a custom performance chip. You get the all NEW (not re-manufactured) injectors plus a chip that's properly calibrated for these injectors. The chip will also have performance enhancements as well as cold start and idle improvements.

If we have enough interest in this project then most likely we'll sell via Wayne and pelican.

I just don't want to invest time in something folks don't seriously want. The chip and injectors will be priced less than a set of new OEM injectors. Set of 6 OEM new injectors are over $600!

These new injectors are EV1 4 hole injectors and they atomize fuel better than the stock ones.

Does anyone know of a direct replacement for the bosch injector that is both MUCH cheaper and as RELIABLE.

I had Marren clean my injectors (86 Carrera) and they were within 2-3%. The car runs much better since two were considered bad. I paid only $125 and they looked and ran like new. I asked S. Wong if the factory injectors inhibited performance and he said no! I can trust him since my car with his chip, bypass pipe and clean injectors made 246 HP!

This thread has details on drop in replacements. The ones I know 100% fit and run fine are these bosch numbers:
0-280-150-364 Special all metal tip
This one should also work:
0-280-150-360

I run the 364s in my car and several others in this thread do also without issue.
You need to be very careful with just dropping in any old injector that meets the flow rate. The flow rate matters but so does the injector offset or dead time, this is the amount of time it takes the injector to fully open and to fully close. The DME compensates and calculates from the time built into the software for the stock injectors. So when you decide to pick another replacement injector this must also be accounted for.

The above 364 and 360 have very near offset times to the stock injector.

Also, Steve is correct that stock injectors don't inhibit performance they work just fine at hi flow rates. The modern injectors just atomize fuel somewhat better and this helps at real lo flow rates like idle and very light throttle. Bottom line is don't take out your stock injectors unless they have an issue! But when it comes time to replace them they are very expensive and then it may be nice to move to the more affordable modern injectors. These are not cheaper in quality, in fact they atomize fuel better but cost less because they are produced in huge volume. The injectors I'm considering for my upgrade package will be Ford 24lb injectors most likely bosch # 0-280-155-715 because they are readily available and I have the full spec sheets from Bosch. I am running these at the moment in my 84 Carrera with my MAF conversion and they run well, still testing though.

Put me down for a complete set.

Would like to see opinions/experience/etc involving these injectors. I like the idea of updating and preparing the car for an eventual 3000 mile trip. Glad Steve Wong has given some input; planning on converting the engine to a S.Wong performance to match the original configuration (stock U.S.) of about 220hp(?).

Looking good!!!

Sal, will the newer injectors improve mileage or reduce carbon deposits...that may be a reason to switch.

The new 715 injectors would not really help MPG nor reduce carbon compared to new factory injectors. But the fact that the 715 injectors are factory new could certainly help when compared to old tired factory injectors.

However, the new chip that would support the new injectors will likely improve MPG because it's specifically tuned PartThrottle ignition table is somewhat better tuned than the factory table. Any MPG improvement would come from the better tuned PT ignition table and most likely not from the injectors alone.

I have been using the Bosch 360s for about a year with no problems. Cost about 65$ each. Five O Fuel Injectors. Easy Install.

I used these:
Jaguar XJ6 1990 1992 Fuel Injector Bosch Free Shipping | eBay

Bosch part# 0280150157

Within 3cc per minute, new and have had in my car for 6 months, runs like a top, plugs are perfect.

Spent a couple dozen hours scouring the internet to find the right impedance and fuel flow.

Nice price. The 360s I installed had a slightly higher flow rate so I adjusted the mixture using the O2 method with multimeter, range .2 - .7 volts. I stayed on the high end at .7.
