Zen and the art of track prep

Maybe it's just me - but there is a zen in track prepping your car. Methodically going over systems, changing brake pads, bleeding brakes, I clean my wheels to make sure I have no cracks, installing my rollbar and seatbelts, going over my checklist - very comforting

Recently while replacing my steering arm tie rod bolts I found a split bump steer spacer.
A small fuel leak was traced to a -6 SS braid line weeping, so went ahead and replace all the fuel lines.
I like working on the car at home, at the track that translates to less working on the car and more driving.
Anyone have a good between races track prep checklist?
Reading someone else's checklist sometimes you can find 1 or 2 items overlooked.

The only reason I like prepping for the track is because I know I'll be out driving on the track very soon.

I try to be Zen like in collecting data right after a track session. Jump out of the car, get the inside & outside edge temps for the tires, get the tire pressures and write it all down. I then try to relate the data to the OA Temp, the track conditions and what my arse told me driving around the track.

Mine too. and I am a little pissed about it. So I am renting either a Shelby Hertz Stang, Corvette, or Nissan 350Z and will be there on Sunday and flog the crap out it.

Yeah, I use to be that way. My wife and kids couldn't understand why I have to keep taking the wheels on and off. Sadly, the track preperation started getting old for me and instead of spending a week in advance getting the car ready, later, it's a late night the day before. Now I take the car to the shop have them go over it, change the fluids, and I just change out the pads and wheels. The thrill is gone I miss those days.

i just read that book for a PhD seminar on theory development, i had heard of the book before but never picked it up. it really is a great book, and his second book (I believe he only made to), Lila seems to be insightful as well. Chapter 10 is my favorite, i enjoy how he describes the need to question that which is nto questioned (in this case the mountains, referring to scientific method)

i liked track prepping because it actually made me clean the barrels of my wheels for a reason, because a car show isn't enough reason.

i wonder if the book somehow applies to this example...
