Weber and Solex differences
I might be able to get my hands on a K&N filter and housing set up for carbs. The problem is that they are on Solex carbs right now and I have Webers. Would the parts fit my Webers? If not how much is involved in making them work. I'm not afraid of a little fabricating and so on.

Probably. According to the Pelican catalogue, PEL-PP901526 (the K&N kit) is for both Weber and Zenith, so I don't see why that wouldn't extend to Solex. When rebuilding my Zeniths I found some Solex parts in there, so they've got to be pretty similar. I think the main differences are in the internals, setup screws, etc. rather than the air intake shape.

Zeniths were made by Solex, that's why you see the word inside the carbs.
The original Solex housing is longer than Webers.
