In cold weather, over bumps, rear suspension makes "wet flip flop squeegee" sound....

You know that sound? Like chewing on rubber.
Or like a new pair of rubber soled shoes on tiled floor.
Or like wet rubber rain boots walking on dry floor.
Or like rubber rubbing on rubber.

I've noticed this mostly when it's cold out. What can this be from?
Hit a bump, and a rubbery sound when the rear suspension compresses.
Maybe the oil inside the shock is cold so there is more travel? Or less?

My guess is that it is one of your rubber (or neopreme) bushings.

I recently replaced my trailing arm bushings and was shocked at how warn out the old ones were.

+3.

I recently aligned the car but before that I swap the TB plates side to side and used some SylGlide. Worked for 3 days then squeek came back. Like you said only in the morning when cold. Once it warms up it goes away but initial drive is a bit embarrasing.

It usually comes from spring plate bushings that have been replaced with aftermarket rubber ones.

Mine (81 SC) did this years ago. Local respected shop replaced the bushings.

Came back within a year. Only in cold weather, and with extension of the rear suspension (like over one of our antique, humped bridges.)

I try to ignore it.
