what's the best dizzy for 2.7 w/webers???
I've searched but can't seem to find an exact answer. I'm currently running the original 2.4 dist. with the vacuum advance removed. timed to 4 degrees btdc @ idle (550rpm). I've tried the high speed timing but lose the timing mark entirely. what would be a good dizzy for my application? any thoughts? thanks! Don.

When I put Webers on my 2.7, I removed the vacuum advance and went with a custom curved mechanical advance. Stoddard did the re-curve for me. If you're interested, I can probably dig through my records and give you some data points for the RPM vs. Advance chart.

Don,
There may be hope for your distributor, yet! distributor lube... Your idle should be 900 rpm +/- 50 rpm ... Most recommend the RS 2.7 replacement distributor ... Bosch 0.231.184.004

I use the RS 2.7
10deg initial & 35deg total works great for me. A new one comes w/cap and rotor. It should be around $300 if you call pelican as they didn't list it the last time i looked.

New vs. Old Distributor curve
Here are the data values and a plot of my old vs. new advance settings after Stoddard re-curved to match a 2.7 Carrera RS:
![]() As you can see, the new curve is steeper, but falls off after 6K (which is plenty high for me). Frank
