One step closer to the track - roll bar install

...well, it's almost installed. Ihave been looking for a rollbar for my 83 cab since I bought it last October. I had pretty much resigned to having to purchase a new one. Nothing wrong with that other than a $600+ pricetag and a hundred other things I also want. Then, 2 weeks ago while looking for something else altogether on Craigslist, there it was. A Kirk rollbar specifically built to be used ina 83-88 cabs. My lucky day... then I looked at the date. Oops... well call anyway I said to myself. Glad I did - he still had it. He is a DE driving instructor in Nashville and took this out of his 88 cab that he has restored and retired from racing (he replaced it with an open pit racecar). Went up today to pick it up. This one uses the seat belt mount for the rear mounts. Took the seat belts off. Carefully lowered in the bar and discovered that it was a pain in the royal patootie to get the bolt holes lined up. Took us (gasp) 3.5 hours. Thought it would never line up. In fairness to Kirk, I am sure the problem was mostly on our end with my carpet still in there. I was just making sure it would fit (hate to assume) and secure it for the 2 hour ride home. Finally had to have my 12 year old son stand on the last corner that we could not get the bolt started in. Finally... sweet success! I still have to do the front mounts which will require holes. Scary! I am also trying to decide whether or not to paint it black before perm install. I eventually want to wrap it in rollbar foam and black leather - that is if there will be enough clearance for the top to go up and down... The pictures are of the bar alone and in PO's car ( a real beauty BTW - has a factory brown or mocha leather interior - awesome). I will post more pics later as it ended up being a VERY long day.
