Another milestone today...
Driver's side done!
Remember when I was back at this point a few months back? ![]() Well, here it sits as of this evening in my garage and I'll re-hang the completed door in the morning! ![]() ![]() ![]() So all that's left is the front hood and engine cover! Can you chant my mantra, "Fresh Bahama Yellow paint by April" just to keep me motivated? My '66 912 Project |

Damn!!! You have given me new motivation to tackle the 66 911 sitting in my garage. I went to your project site- you could write a book about the process- and you answered many of the questions I have had about areas of the car I can't see yet. Wonderful ohotos and write up.

I'm always thrilled to hear that my webpage and periodic postings on my '66 912 project are appreciated! THANKS!
Put the left door back on today. I think we're good to go! ![]() I'm particularly proud of how this section of the repairs turned out, considering the bottom 2" of the door skin, the bottom 8" of the fender and the rocker panel is all new sheetmetal. ![]() Nothing going on here to make one think this car has been completely rebuilt! ![]() Best of all, the door gaps on both sides are exactly the same and this car had been in a right front collision. ![]() I really love doing headliner and upholstery work, I'm really looking forward to getting this car back from the painter! Darryl, You have more skill and patience in your pinky than most of us possess at all. Incredible workmanship, and I can't wait to see the finished product in April!

Yes, I have to admit, there was some welding involved but by God the hood gap at the cowl is now a uniform 3 mm all the way across.
![]() So there you go, another milestone completed and I'm officially done with the MIG welder. All I have left is some filling and block sanding on the front bumper and engine lid. Paint shop by April is definitely in the crosshairs! My '66 912 Project |

Here's the front view of the hood and bumper and the uniform gaps I was able to get all the way down the hood:
![]() I'm still not quite satisfied with the way the grills fit although they don't look bad from normal eye level, I'd really like them perfectly parallel to each other. |

Darryl,
I couldn't say enough in the way of praise. I was fascinated reading your journal. What a lucky guy you are to have met the original owner & have all of the original stuff for the car. Usually people scavange all of that. Like you I can't wait until you describe the original owner's ride in the car after you finish. Please make the journal a permanent part of your signature.
