Yup, it looks like Lilac, here's my Lilac example. The shade of purple changes depending on the light.

Sahara Beige in bright morning light

Same car, same color, same location and same camera, a half hour later afterthe sun had come up a little higher in the sky. Sahara Beige does NOT photograph accurately but I think it is a very unique era-correct color.

rockaria 02-26-2007 11:58 AM

Petrol Blue Metalic. Its hard to photograph. The color has green in it, in person, but if you take a picture it looks blue.

+1 for tobacco brown. know a guy who had one in that color. it was stunning in sunlight... almost copperish. would like a car that color sometime.

here is a sample of my all-time favorite silver-type color: dolomite gray... not sure if it's factory but love the fact that it's darker. guess we have 'seal gray' on porsche's current offerings...

Anthracite, is this a factory color?

My color is called Anthracite. I thought it was the original color but I think I've seen the 1974 color charts on some thread here. Does anyone know if this is the original color?

}{arlequin, looks like your Dolomite picture....hard to tell from just a picture but it looks close.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1172529599.jpg

very interesting. is yours metallic or just a 'solid' color? the dolomite is metallic. yours doesn't look metallic and seems a shade lighter than the "mc queen gray" that's in the movie... always forget the name of that one.

oh wow, that Cassis red is niiiiiiiceeeee. I'd have opted for black center Fuchs wheels, not that it matters that much though. It looks like you mounted your radar detector in the same place as mine.

ok that cassis red is now on my wish list of colours.
very sexy. Almost made wood

does it have to be original color - here is my speedster in alu silver which is more common on audis

Mine's pretty uncommon, I've only see two other 911s in the same colour: Ice / Glacier Blue.

It's very hard to photograph and looks like a white car at night.

Re: Re: Anthracite, is this a factory color?

}{arlequin,
My color is metallic...it's hard to tell in this picture. I need to take better pictures in the sun. I agree it's not as dark as Steve McQueen's car in LeMans. I bought my car in 1993 and it was really faded on the tops of the front and rear fenders....I just assumed it was the original color. I do have the paint code in my paperwork. I need to hunt that down....maybe that would help. It could be that the previous owner was mistaken because Anthracite and Dolomite are similar in names. They look really close...although my car looks a little lighter...could be the picture too. I always thought it was the original color but, like I said, I've seen the 1974 color chart and it's not on there...I would bet it's not the only color not on there though. Here are some other pictures. Too bad it's the same light.

thanks. they very well may be the same... doesn't mean the lighting in my pics is ideal either ;)

as for the color chart, even back then, i think the factory would do custom orders if someone chose to go that way

crashmy911 02-27-2007 06:07 AM

Maybe its me but I like all the colors. there's not one color that looks ugly to me!

Paulporsche 02-27-2007 10:52 AM

I am seeing a future for you in politics!

rusnak 02-27-2007 10:55 AM

how did the 911SC coupe in GothingNC's picture come out clear with the background blurry? That's a great effect. It almost makes the car look like a model.

If you can get me more details on the paint code ect of your car I would greatly appreciate it. I am planning on going with a color exactly like that sometime in the future. Also if you have more pictures you wouldn't mind sending me I would greatly appreciate it: rich76_911s(at)hotmail(dot)com

Also I am pretty sure dolomite grey was a factory color at one time. I have a paint code of LY7V. It is also another color I have thought of using in the future. I forget exactly what years did have the Dolomite grey as an option though.

Thought I would chime in on this topic....
I looked for about a year to find a Talbot Yellow coupe. Had to transport back from West Virginia to Washington. About as soon as I got it I had a friend buy a Mercedes Marine Blue Targa that had been kinda abused. I became attached to this and have been working since Sept to bring her back to life. All I have is a scan of a printed picture from this past weekend.

911 on tap 02-28-2007 01:26 PM

Helps if I insert images....

Yep, it's Ruby Red, or at least that's the color it was listed as on the Peachstate PCA website. It was for sale, and one of the cars I was going to pursue once I was in the position to buy. Very, very nice looking SC!
