Short shifter installed but no reverse!!!!

I have just changed my clutch cable, shift bushings and have put in a factory short shifter kit, after installing all of this according to "101 projects for your porsche" the car perfectly shifts to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear, but when I attempt to put it into reverse it seems to be in 4th (because the car goes forward rather than reverse)which doesnt make sense, my guess is it is not going far enough to the right to fall into reverse. Other than that the short shifter is amazing, just need my reverse. Please give me suggestions!!!!!!!! Im all out of them, thanks a bunch!!!

I have a 1982 porsche 911 sc, this shifter is for a 915, the original shifter worker fine, when I installed the factory short shifter kit is when the reverse disappeared. My car does run on a 915, right??? below is what I bought

Your car came with a 915.
Pull the panel on the trans tunnel (Where the trans connects to the shift linkage) and check the coupler. On the 915 it is backwards so when you move the shifter to the right and back to go in reverse it actually moves the shift rod from the trans to the left (twists actually) and forward. If that coupler is indexed wrong on that rod coming from the trans it can make it so that you can not twist the rod enough to be in the 5th rev plane.
I hope this makes sense...it's getting late here : )
