I think you need to consider a few things. First there are two types of Koni adjustables. Those that adjust by turning a knob on top and the older style that must be removed and compressed to adjust. Beyond initial setup I do not adjust my Konis.

I have the Yellow sport top adjustable in the rear and the Red internal adjustable on the front. My 2000 pound car is running 22/31 torsion bars. I have the front set about 1/2 and the rear about 5/8 of the way to full hard.

Remember that unless you get the Uber-expensive double adjustable Konis you will only be allowed to adjust the rebound. Too stiff and the car will not unload from compression. This will cause a car to ride really stiff when the suspension loads up, packs down and can not respond to the surface. Too little rebound and the car becomes "bouncy."

I think you would be happy with either setting as long as the system is properly matched.

A number of AX fellas have the Koni adjustables. The ones where you use a plastic 'key' knob thingie to adjust them at the top. It takes just a few minutes. They drive their cars to AX and then, for competition, they adjust the shocks to full stiff. I believe what Jeff said, but I think these guys do get maximum performance at the event from the full-stiff setting. Remember, this is autocross. They YANK the steering wheel and the shock stops the car from rolling and becoming upset. By the time the shock has a chance to depress, the driver is turning in the other direction.
