Console Replacement - Give Me Your Thoughts

Seeing the recent post on interior carpet replacement got me thinking about finishing mine. I got the real nice console from a pelican, so I could replace my tired one. My plans were to put this one in and have mine recovered back to origional and then swap it back out. Well actually I wanted to have this black one recovered in Champagne so I would only have to make the change once but is too nice!! You can see why I pulled mine out BUT I kind of like the black. Yes I know I am crazy!!

What would you do? Go back to Champagne or leave in the black one. I am leaning towards leaving it.

Note: I have no intentions of changing anything else at this moment. key word - intentions

champagne, then paint your gauge cluster backer to match, did this in my 914 and looked good. look at your first pic and imagine the gauge surround in champagne.

I agree. I like the black and tan treatment. Been toying with the idea myself. Looks great by the way. But, as Khamul said, try the black with the tan boot. Then post another pic!

My interior color is the grey beige. I have been thinking about trying to find a set of black seat skins (maybe some that are damaged on the bolsters or something - I just need the "inserts") and using the black inserts with the grey-beige bolsters. I think it would look nice.

I like the champagne boot and console. The all-black is dull in comparison.

Put the black one in and save the other one, so you can change it back later. If you haven't changed it back within 2 years (and I bet you won't), then sell it.

I just did the full RS carpet and eliminated the center consol. Haven't quite figured out where ot put the hard light and rear defrost buttons. Maybe I'll do something similar with the ash tray.

Good advise Randy - thanks! This is what I am going to do - the black is already growing on me.
