MSD green wire with swapped wires
I could swear someone (recently) posted something about switching the wires (reversing the polarity) from the distributor to the MSD box (aka "green wire") and that results in a 15 degree retardation. Loren even posted something in the post. For the life of me I can't find it now.
I thought it was in the "Green Wire" thread but I couldn't find it. Did I dream it? If I didn't, got a link? thanks, -Chris

The engine will run with the wires hooked up either way. The correct way will give the proper timing and the wrong way will advace the timing by alot (20 degrees or so on my engine).
You can tell if you have it the "right" way by checking the static timing (looking at the magnetic wheel in the dizzy) and then running the engine to see the timing about TDC. If you have it the "wrong" way the timing will be very advanced after you set the static timing visually to TDC. The main reason you want it the "right" way is the shape of the waveform the system works on . With it the right way you get a sharp trigger pulse as the "finger" on the magnetic wheel makes it's closest approach to the sensor. With the wire set up the "wrong" way the CD is triggered on the shallow upslope of the pulse well before the "finger" reaches the closest approach to the sensor. -Andy

Got it! I thought this is another 'performance gain' trick.
