injector cleaner, before or after?

i have been pretty committed to running a bottle of techron injector cleaner once a year right before an oil change. what is the consensus on adding it after or midway through the oils life? is there a contaminate issue involed that might lead to breakdown of oil in any way?

i change my oil generally at about 3k miles, 1 to 3 track days, or a high temp day at the track where i may see brief periods of 230* to 240* oil temps.

what about some remaining injector cleaner in tank at a track day? will this effect running temps or performance?

whats the word on injector cleaner my birds?

as always thanks

I am not a bird, dog, or penguin but here is my answer:
The issue with injector cleaner is that some will get into the oil and mess with it (pull the dipstick and smell your oil after the injector cleaner has been in there a while and you can smell the difference). Also, there are concerns that the cleaner will "break loose" stuff you don't want circulating around your engine for a long period of time.
Run the fuel to a low level (1/4 tank), fill the tank up and it will dilute the remaining cleaner to a negligible level. If you just put the cleaner in a full tank, run it down before you change.
Side note: if you REALLY want to clean your injectors, put a full can of Techtron in a 3/8 tank of fuel and run it to about an 1/8. The higher concentration will give you max cleaning.

thanks joe. that was kinda what i thought would be the case. i usually go half tank and run it near empty just before an oil dump. i will continue such.

OK, I will concede that. "Bird" used to be a slang term for girl or girlfriend "back in my day".
On a side note: be careful about running too low on fuel. On old car with the original tank that hasn't been cleaned may have some interesting stuff down near the bottom from years of fueling. The last thing you need is to suck that up into the fuel filter.
