Let's resume the debate......chrome H4's on my Carrera!
Okay everyone, it's time to pick the scab on our age-old debate about brightwork on an otherwise black trimmed Carrera. I just installed my new H4's and I submit (along with these pics) that chrome ringed H4's look great on a Carrera when paired with equally shiny wheels (courtesy of Mr. Al Reed).
What do you all think?? ![]() ![]()

I love bright headlight trim rings, when coupled with bright window trim.

I guess that sort of works, but for me it is not a cohesive look. Chrome headlight rings with bright window trim works well, but with black window trim the rings should either be body colour or black.

The chrome would be appropriate on a longhood.
Paint them to red.

I agree with the others. If the trim is black, then make the rings body color.

Don't listen to them! Chrome is cool. Chrome is righteous. If it makes you feel better, find chrome windshield trim somewhere to help balance it out.
...then backdate. ![]()

Body color would be my first choice for that car.
Black to match the trim would be second on the list. Honestly? Chrome wouldn't be on the list at all. Beautiful car, though.

I say keep the chrome. I never really considered the headlight trim in the same category as window/reflector/script trim. That being said I have never like all blacked out fuchs so they are a nice match to your polished petals. Body color rings are alright but I dont care for black rings even on a black car. I think it makes the lenses look to small from a distance.

Chrome looks "wrong". Black looks like racoon eyes. Body color is the look you want.

Wow, I knew there was a high percentage of folks who prefer body color rings on Carreras, but I thought the pics might sway some opinions. I've seen pics here of chrome ringed Carreras quite a bit, but not many with the wheels to match.
Well, that's cool -- this is actually the look I was shooting for and I am pleased with it. I can see the point about the windshield trim, but today as I approached the car from a distance in the parking lot, my eyes tied the rings to the wheels immediately. The rest of the trim being black didn't seem to matter too much.

You can get the snap-on rings that go over the chrome pretty cheaply. Have it both ways.

![]() ![]() I like the chrome surround. I bought the trim rings once, thinking the color match would look better. --sold them. The way I see it, the headlight is a big chromed reflector. .. the matching chrome ring makes the lamp appear a bit larger. Interestingly, the design guys (bringing back a retro look) thought the lamp for the 997 would look better with an extra bright surround. ![]()
