in and out of cage

So time to install side protection. Looking at various designs and can't find any that look like they will allow egress from the car. So the question is how in the heck do you get in and out of the car with side bars installed.
Is the only way a removable steering wheel.

I have the Safety Devices cage in my coupe and honestly, there is no easy way to get out of the car. I have the stock steering wheel in place and I just rotate in my seat and stick my legs out of the car, over the side bars and then slide the rest of the way out.

I think the race bucket is a bigger obstacle in my car. If I didn't have a removeable steering wheel, I can't see how I'd get around it with or without my cage -- at least not without sliding the seat back. But the good news is a snap release is pretty cheap and doubles as a theft deterrent.

You could probably add bolt-in side bars to your cage. They're what I have, although mine are low enough and easy enough to get over that I've never removed them.

The quick release also gives the wheel some additional spacing, which is good if you're tracking or autocrossing the car.

My side bars come down at an angle, so my feet get over them pretty easily:

I like your side bar but everything I have found on rules indicate that I need at least two bars either to horizontal side bars or two bisecting forming and "X". That would be like your bar indicated with another bar filling the area you now get your legs out of. The height of the side bars I have seen look to me that it would make impossible to get out in the 10 second rule. So what is worse take a hit in the side on a lesser bar or burn up cause you can't get out of the better bar. Jack do you have a bar down lower then to make two bars. I may have to just do the slopeing bar and then add the additional bar if I need to meet regulations. The single bar should work for DE
I have resigned my self to the fact I will need a steering release. I have to take a look and see if I need a thin profile or if perhaps the stanard 3" design would actually benefit me. My old car had the extended Porsche wheel so I was used to at least a 1" additition.
