Concerning the molded raised deck lettering, was there ever a capital "R"?
I've seen the Carrera S, 4S and so on. Any use of "R"?

Other cars where the script would match or compliment?

Early cars, before about 1970, had individual block capital letters that spelled "PORSCHE". Don't know of any script capital "R".

I'm not sure if the littany of RS or RSR Porsches are what you're talking about, Milt. You want to know if there is a standalone R designation, other than the 911R, right? Because the 911R didn't have a script "R" on its decklid?

ohhh, I understand now.
well here you go: http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/12/carrera-too-common-rename-your-porsche/ www.nameyourporsche.com It says in not so many words that you could, for example, make your car a "Carrera M". Or to heck with it, make your car a "Milt". A little pricey though. Last edited by rusnak; 04-28-2007 at 06:29 PM.. |

Milt,
The 911R had a decal identical in construction as the Carrera 6 decal but about the same size as the 68 cast script. I may have one I can scan. As I recall the style is about the same as the R in Porsche deck lid individual letters. You might borrow the R out of a deck lid set and have a mold made to cast more. That is relatively easy these days for runs of 50 or so. This is how the 2.8 3.0 3.2 grill script is done. See you in June pre-Parade. Best, Grady

Milt - if you have the font, I could copy into a 3d cad file, I then might be able to cut you one sometime, when we have a quiet time at work or I could use as a training exercise for another employee. I work for a prototype company and have cut pretty much everything from cell phones to medical to automotive (badges for BMW show cars). We use a powerful cad/cam system and cnc machining centers. Can easily cut plastics or aluminum.

I saved the link from before, somebody else on the board found them. Personally thinking about a modern 911SC script on my decklid or a ducktail in the future.
