Here's a link to Sushinav's solo Palomar drive a couple of years ago, with pictures:
96 miles of twisties: Pics Here's a link to the Palomar Observatory website (if you're interested, Dan): http://www.astro.caltech.edu/observatories/palomar/ Here's a Google Map showing it's location in a grand sense. This drive may be more suited to those of us in Orange County, Southeastern Riverside County and San Diego County: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Intersection+of+S6+and+Canfield+Road&layer=&sll=33.348813,-116.866465&sspn=0.07012,0.1157&ie=UTF8&z=8&ll=33.356269,-116.870456&spn=2.243474,5.50415&om=1 |

Car if fine. It's the motor... It's missing. It was right there in the front, but when I went to check: IT WAS GONE.... It's OK though, Alex has a spare in his trunk.Just Kidding. I am still building my 3.0. I got all the parts now. CIS, Euro intake, heads ported to match (valve/guide job), Web cam 21/20 grind, stock 2.7 exhaust. I will go through the tranny as well, I CAN"T WAIT... Paul

I've been really lame about being able to live up actually meeting up with you guys. Once again, I'll express interest.
I have a lot of dates booked in the next 12 weeks, though. One day my life will be simplified. My house remodel has been a big focus and will be for the next 12 months. Anyone going to be at Cars n coffee on Saturday? I plan to attend. Doug

I might be able to join you. A word of warning, however -- There has been a lot of CHP activity on the mountain as of late. This is mainly due to motorcycle riders who had pretty much taken over this great road on the weekends. From what I have heard, the officers won't hesitate to pull over speeding cars either. I have even heard rumours of bikes and cars being impounded. I'm not sure if those accounts are true, but it's kept me away from one of my favorite roads over the last couple of years. Be careful out there.
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/metro/20050811-9999-7m11race.html That being said, I organized a small Palomar Run a few years back and we had a great time! Here's the thread: Palomar Mountain Fun-Run dates? I know of some great roads that are "off the beaten path" so to speak. Some of these roads are possibly better than even Palomar Mountain. Let me know if you would like some input for planning a route.

Brian, I just looked at the route you guys drove last time. It looked good on paper. How was the drive? Would you recommend that route again?

I would absolutely recommend the same, or similar route.
One of my favorite roads connects Lilac Road to Highway 76. It is called Couser Canyon. It is not very long, but has some great twisty turns with little-to-no traffic on it. This section in particular can make your passenger(s) sick.

Scott,
Thanks for the call earlier and the tip on the thread. Count me in, I can help with route maps once you decide on what works for everybody. Also, I'm in for Cars & Coffee this Saturday. Chris

April 8 & 15 may be bad days. Those are the two days the Chris Banning might be joining us on our Sunday Mulholland run.

So, let me toss out a couple of dates then. How about the 7th or the 14th? Almost any date would actually work for me, but I'm trying to make it as do-able as possible for you guys.
Chris, have you tried to contact Alex or Richard? |

7th won't work for me, but the 14th would more likely.
Don't plan around me, given my track record. ![]() Doug
