Cool SoCal RSR clone 20 month status report (pics)

Well, it's been 4 months since my last update and I'm happy to say that things are coming together.

With the help of some friends, the engine is now installed. It's not running yet because there is
still some electrical wiring needed on the car and I'm still missing the flex oil lines to the front
cooler.

A set of core 16X6s were sent to Lindsey and hope to get them back as 17X9s and 17X11s in a month or so.

All the suspension components are installed, running coil-overs on the rear with SSIs has proven to be
a challenge, the clearance is tight even after some light pounding on the exchangers, there still may
be a problem. Hope to sort it all out when the car gets aligned and corner balanced.

I'm shooting to be finished by May or June so I can attend the Porsche Parade in early July.

Here are some of the latest pics

Intake and peripherals installed.

Engine an tranny together and ready to be installed.

High enough to clear top of the engine.

Finally!!!

Bottom shot.

Custom strut bar installed.

Back on the ground with temporary wheels/tires after being on jacks for about 7 months.

Visit this site if you'd like to see pics since day one. RSR clone pics

Fernando,
AWESOME WORK - great update!! I may be able to lend a hand next weekend, if you are ready to fire the motor. Steph is out of town and I only have some Porsche projects to attend to.

Best,

Doug

Looks like a brand new car! Beautiful! Can you tell me what type of coating you have on your floor? It looks great too!

The muffler looks to be a M&K and I agree the car looks like it is coming along very nicely.

The muffler is indeed an M&K, i bought it along with the SSIs from Doug W (first poster on this thread) when he upgraded to the 3.6 If it sounds anything like it did on his car, it'll be loud!

The flooring is epoxy, it's clear adhesive, paint chips and clear coat. It's fairly durable but it's showing a few chips here and there from using the hammer too much

Thanks for the compliments. It's been a slow process because I can only work on it on weekends and a few hours here and there on weekdays. I'm really shooting to have it finished before July.

Fernando,
Car looks great! Good luck firing it up. I just put on an M+K 2 in 2 out and it definately can wake up the neighbors but I love the sound. Where in San Diego are you?

I'm in South Bay, Chula Vista area.

There are 4 other local guys that I chat with often, Doug, Matt, Jamie and Skip. What part of San Diego do you live? Hope to meet you and go for a drive soon.

I never noticed before but the D90 wheels almost have a 935-esqe wheel fan look under those flares... I think the Lindsey's will look much better.
