				Advantages/disadvantages of carbs...
			 
			I went through this with my 914...I HATE fi. It must be great for the first 15 years or so, but when FI goes, it goes in a **** can, and tracking things down is difficult compounded by the cost of parts that are seriously outdated! They do make carbs for the 3.2 now....you could have in CA 2 years with them between swap outs...You save all the stuff in pristine condition, and swap em out. One hears horror stories about synchronizing carbs...but really, how much harder and more complex can it be than Starting with a DME analyzer (that will tell me nothing knowing my luck), then replacing parts... ------------------ Kurt B 1984 911 Carrera Cabriolet 75 914 1.8 | ||

			Fuel injection means better running, more stable tickover and far better fuel economy. Why throw that away? I know that carbs do give the car a beautiful sound, but that alone is not enough. Do you expect more hp from your 3.2 with carbs instead of the original fuel injection? I don't think you would get more hp. Porsche went for fuel injection (mechanical) way back with the 911S models. They must have done so for a reason? | ||

			The motronic system on the Carreras is much more "tunable" than the restrictive CIS of the SCs.  Synchronizing carbs is no big deal, just something new to learn.  They (carbs) are obviously more simple and better looking.  Fuel injection is generally smoother and easier to live with if your car is a daily driver.  Webers require a person who likes a more "mechanical" feeling car.  I see the merits of both.  I doubt that carbs alone would increase the power of a motronic engine like they do for CIS cars.  Carbs are hard to justify if you must have a functioning F.I. system to swap on every 2 years.  There is a likelyhood that the F.I. system would malfunction after sitting for a couple of years unless properly blead out and stored.

			If you wanted to spend the money, the best compromise would be individual throttle bodies with port fuel injection controlled by a fully programmable fuel system. Awsome throttle response and carb sounds with the refinement, fuel economy and control of F.I....for a price.

			Dosent TWM make a kit of individually fuel injected high butterflys for the 2.7 and 3.0's?  I had a set on a 1970 Datsun Z with a 3.1 liter inline 6. The sound, performance and tunability make the price of admission worth it, however much that may be.  The car came that way when I bought it.

			Nevermind, I fixed the flat spot. For future reference, the DME air flow meter has that electric outlet (black) with 4 screws holding it in. It's a slide contacted, so when you unscrew and pull it out, you'll see 3 contact that slip in and out. I bent these out a bit (I've considered dismantling it and soldering them in there), and that seems to have helped.
