How does the 996 muffler's flow and what are dimensions
Anybody knows how the 996 exhaust mufflers flow and what are the dimensions?
I'm thinkíng of using them on my 3.2 with 993 flipped flange headers. Here's a picture of a set. Could look nice with 2 center outlets a la boxster. They are probably to high to fit:-( ![]() Thanks Palle

I think you'll struggle to get those to fit. The question I ask is why?

Going to use 993 headers on a G-model.
993 headers aren't as restrictive as SSI's due to larger dia., but the problem comes with custom muffler.

Got it. I've got a custom Flowmaster on the back of mine '84. I didn't want a B&B muffler on the B&B headers. Two in, two out. Two elbows and an outlet (with a little welding) on each side. Fairly economical, and it sits where the stock muff would go. I think the problem you'll find with your mufflers is having to deal with 2 fairly big chunks of metal, and the associated plumbing. Those normally sit toward the sides of the engine, IIRC.

I think that you will have a tough time fitting them.
For one thing your fenders aren't roomy enough, even turbo flares are tough in that regard. For another the oil tank is where one of them would need to go.

I was thinking of mounting them in the middle, almost like in pic above just upside down. But they are probably too high to fit.
I'm looking for a good flowing muffler that is not to loud. I need to pass the noise limits on several tracks. I could just modify a standard muffler and perhaps install one 993/996 muffler in the lh rear fenderwell (no oil tank) to keep noise low. That could be done with the "klappenauspuff" so noise can be controlled:-))
