How long the racing clutch should last?
Hello,
I drove my 930 on the track today, after the 4th. lap, the clutch slipped on third gear. We suspect the oil leak causes it. Before we take the transmission down, I would like to get your opinion my clutch set. My driving is daily use, 15 miles per day, that makes 5475 miles/year plus 2 long trips to the north, 1250 miles. 6 track driving/year. These pictures are the clutch kit installed on March 2006 Do this clutch should last longer than a year? Do you think it's just the worn out clutch disc or else? Thank you Burint ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The life of the clutch is more dependent on the way the driver uses it or, in some cases, abuses it than anything else.
Both my brother and sister had clutches that would barely last a year because whenever they took off from a stop, they would race their engines to 3000 rpms and slip their clutches like a torque converter in order to make a smooth launch in order to avoid the jerk from their out of tune engines. So if your engine is in good tune to where you can take off without racing your engine with the minium amount of clutch slippage, your clutch should last the life of your engine. Cheers, Joe |

Hi Burint,
Is that an early 935 pressure plate ? How was the pedal feel when it was working correctly ?

Hi Gary,
It is 935 pressure plate. When new, it was biting like the Rottweiler. Later on when I take off from stop, the clutch rattled and the line need several adjustments to avoid the jerking take off. As now, my clutch still works great on 2nd gear up to 5500rpm without slipping but on 4th, it slipped at 4500rpm. Burint |
