Porsche Crest Reccomended Shops

Here are the shops I use for my 1971 911S street/race car's maintainance. They can do a PPI for you. They are honest, dependable, and reasonably priced:

Peter Skleminoff at Europa Motors in Moorpark, CA 805-531-0049

Mike Bennett at Mike's Foreign Sport Ltd. in Thousand Oaks, CA 805-379-3880

Of course, if you can get the car to North Holywood, I highly reccomend Dave Bouzaglou (sp?) at TRE.

If you need more info, make another post or PM me.

Hope this helps. Good luck on the car!

Go to Rusnak Porsche in T.O. and *insist* that Mike Schatz do the checkout.

Europa

I had the car checked at Europa, the first place I called. They were very thorough. Great leak down results. Repaired two V boots. Missed a misadjusted clutch but other wise they were spot on and I just love the car. I am as excited about this 993 as my first 911 25 yrs ago.
Thanks!

Glad Europa worked out for you. I am taking my 1971 911S autocross/street car there for an oil change tomorrow. As long as the clutch wasn't slipping, the adjustment/feel is largely a matter of personal preference, IMHO.

Pete is an honest guy, a member of the PCA Santa Barbara region, and does good work at agood price.

993 clutch

is hydraulic and has no typical adjustment. CHeck this out if yoiu are curious.

http://p-car.com/diy/pedal/clutchlever.html

There is a lever that is attached to the clutch pedal. It has had several iterations by Porsche. So the pedal rides on the throwout bearing but because there is no spring it is very light. It really is no problem at all except that the clutch needs to release all the way to allow the cruise to work. P-car.com goes into great detail cause this is a common problem. I told the guys at the shop and one of them mentioned that they do not get a lot of 993s. But other wise the PPI was extremely thorough. I had to look very closely with my readers on to see the cracking on the front tires and I am glad I heeded their advise not too drive fast. So I will get tires, Euro-height, alignment and if that does not break me the clutch pedal thingy. Or I will do the last item myself.
