Transmission HELP, replacing seal.

I have a 915 8/31 R&P Mag Case that has a small leak, and before it gets to the clutch and ruins that I am replacing all the seals & gaskets on the tranny.

If I am not replacing or touching any of the gears do I need the trans shift fork jig? I cannot find it anywhere..

After I remove reverse and 5th and get into the case does the shaft just slide out so I can replace the rear seal that must be done thru the inside?

When putting it back togehter do I need to put anythign like copper or something on the paper gaskets?

any and all help would be much appreciated...

Brian

I rebuilt mine last month. If all you want to do is change the gaskets, it is just bolt off, bolt on. No jig necessary if you are going to leave the 2 shafts alone. I sprayed the paper gaskets with K&Y Copper Gasket Spray. You can just pull off the nose cap, then change the seal. There is also a seal at the "rear" seal by the clutch without disassembling anything, but you need a special tool. John Walker locally was kind enough to do it for me. You just need the 2 paper gaskets and the front (and rear) seals. Good luck!
