RennShift user's survey

The RennShift shifter has a number of adjustments that can custom tailor the shifting to the end user's needs and desires.

I'd like to know what people are actually using, to provide the most common setup - which may not be the configuration in which the shifters are currently delivered.

Here is the current setup - as delivered:
- Shift throw - 20%
- Spring gates - lightest setting left and right
- Reverse lockout - automatic lockout installed

Please reply here and let me know how you have configured your RennShift.

Thanks!

Note: I am not looking for design changes, just setups within the delivered options.

I took the 2-5 spring out entirely (901/911 box). I found it disconcerting to push against the spring to go up into 4th, then have the lever move left back towards the center when I released it just from the spring pressure. It just felt more "normal" to me to have the non-sprung lever there.

I bought mine used and can't be sure if the settings are the same.
I am pretty sure the 20% and reverse lockout are. I feel the spring setting may be higher but I like it just the way it is.

I just spent 2 days at Roebling Rd. testing it out and it performed flawlessly. I can't imagine going to another track without it. For that matter I can't imagine driving without it now. 95 k on the odometer and the tranny now feels like a new one, at least compared to before. I haven't even changed the shift coupler yet.

Using it as delivered and happy. Would I want to make changes? Possibly, but no real reason at the moment!

Actually, I did make a mod that I didn't mention. I installed a longer shift knob and I find that a better reach for me as I have short arms. Problem with this was the screws holding to the aluminum would loosen up a fair bit, even with loctite. Noticed that as they are steel they actually burrowed into the shaft.

So far what has worked is tape under the knob to stop it from dropping horizontally and stronger loctite on the screws. Working so far.

So my request would be taller versions of the Rennshift knobs.

Simon, I said the same thing. I bought an extension that screws into the top of the shift lever that extends it about 4" from JWest.
James will probably see this but email or pm him about getting one.

It was inexpensive and it puts the shifter up close to your hand.

I have a first generation rennshift on my 914-6. I tried the heavier springs you supplied, and went back to the original springs. Drove it 385 miles from VA-CT last weekend and loved every minute of it.
