Rusty bits where the window comes out ...
Does anyone know what the function of these rusty pieces are that look like they are supposed to guide the window as it moves in and out of the door?
If I am to replace them where could I find these parts on Pelican? Cheers, Kato Pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() |

What is the purpose of this thing?
Is it really necessary to replace as the windows work fine? |

Ron is right. I noticed the same exact symptoms last week on my 89 3.2. Are they necessary? They probably add some more weatherproofing to the interior of the door and make for a snug fit with the window. Since my car is a cabriolet the parts are $120 each! So, I'll wait. A coupe is less than $20/side. If mine were that cheap I would take the opportunity to do a quick DIY project. But, before you order the part open up the inside of the door and see what else needs replacing.
If your window begins to rattle this may be the cause, but it looks like it is still doing the job. |

If the window is fogged up on the inside, a quick down/up will wipe them off. That piece does the wiping.

Mine is a Targa. I assume the coupe part will fit? Opening up the door first - sounds like a good idea. I have to replace that lock/unlock long plastic piece on my driver's side door as well. '86 Carrera Driver Side Door Lock Quit Working |

These parts are replaced from the top - outside; no need to open up the door. Takes about 10 minutes per door including cleaning everything.
