turn signal and bulb problem all mixed up!

I had a faster than normal blinker so I took out the bulbs, cleaned the grounds, the contacts and connected everything back on the front two corners. Now I have a very rapid blinker, much faster than before. I thought I may have the wrong bulbs so I checked the pelican parts catalog and it lists a 7506 bulb to use for the front turn signal, but my 79SC has 1157 dual filiment not single filiment bulbs. I have done a search and it turned up that the 7506 21W is the bulb for the rear. I think the wattage for the 1157 bulb is 27 watts on the high side and 4 watts on the low side. If the wattage is different could that cause the problem and what are the correct bulbs for turn signals on a 79SC.

Call "The Pelican Boys" - they'll get you all straightened out. Wit hall new bulbs and installed with dielectric grease it ought to clear up a lot of troubles.

In my case the driver's front signal housing has something wrong with it. Looks like the spring loaded little plate the bulb makes contact with is not "retained" by the factory crimp. Probably makes no sense unless it is apart and you're looking at it. I haven't figured out how to get the whole signal housing out of the bumper. Does the entire bumper have to come off? The valence?

On my 79 there is a small screw in the center of the reflector that holds it in place. the bucket is mounted to the bumper. What bulb did you use on yours

Speedman,
Is your sidemarker blinking with your turn signal?

I ask because mine blink fast as well, but my side marker is not blinking with the turn signal, it just turns off when I activate the turn signal to either side. The side markers light up as they should when the running lights are on. I've gone as far as to replace all the bulbs, the relay, clean and di-electric grease all of the contacts and grounds and I've re-done the wiring in the back of the headlamps. With all of this work and frustration, I'm still having this problem. This is the final electrical gremlin that I have left with this car and I hope someone has an idea of how to fix it.

My next course of action is to trace the actual side marker wires to the fuse box and then to the relay. A major PITA, at least I can be sure of that.

I hope your solution will be easier than what I've been doing.
-Matt
