Where to get the B&B "S" hose??

I can not seem to find the oil line that B&B makes to go from the oil tank to the engine mount oil cooler. This is the one that replacese the "S" hose due to the close proximity of the headers to the hose.

Someone here pointed my to Mr. Timmons (instang-g). So I emailed him saying that it was recommended to me that I get in contact with him for the pipe. He sent me an email saying what a piece of crap the headers are and told me to call B&B.

so.......

I called B&B and the rather rude fellow on the phone said I needed to buy a whole install kit (which I do not need) and it was 350+ dollars. I then told him I needed two and he said sorry and hung up.

So, does anyone know where I can actually get one or maybe two of these things with out getting a whole install kit?

Cheers

You don't actually need to replace the hose, just the connection to the block, you can make one easily enough by modifing the stock one.
It should look like this

The slight upward sweep moves the rubber away from the exhaust

Installed , like this

For extra insurance on the rubber, put a heat reflection shield on the S hose

Thanks Bill, but I have a 3.2. based motor so their is an oil cooler there. The hose/pipe I am after is the replacement for the S hose. I have about 2mm clearance between the S hose and the headers...

Cheers

yes I recommended Mr. Timmons - he provided mine - had just bought someone's inventory of B & B crap - Probably just caught him on a bad day Jeff - he was very helpful with me (but does not speak highly of any of the B & B products)

Jeff,

sorry I can't offer you a better source, but I have spoken with a "rather rude" B&B guy myself in the past. He was all bent out of shape that I was asking to buy the mount kit for my B&B exhaust.

I tried to reason with him about how customer service is how you keep customers, but he was ranting about guys buying used exhaust systems on the internet and bugging them for spare parts.

Long story short, he asked me to prove that my system was bought for my car. I told him it was a previous owner's purchase, so then he wanted me to give him the customer name. I told him mine was a 3 owner car and I only know of the original owner ( a pro baseball player) and the one I bought it from. Finally, he 'agreed' to sell me the mounting kit for $50. Gee thanks, buddy!

I still don't understand why they are so averse to selling (high margin) replacement parts, but maybe if you call back and calmly express your need he'll acquiesce and "allow" you to buy one.

Good Luck,

Craig

I don't understand that either. I do understand though then when your swamped with order the smaller thing can be troublesome but it take less time then to rant..

Thanks guys, it just makes no sense to me. How hard is it to put two parts in a box and then get paid for them?? Oh well.

If anyone has one they can lend so I can get them built that would be great.....

On mine the rubber hose basically touches the header so I need a solution, anyone else have any ideas?

Any shops out there reading this that do any amount of B&B volume that could help pry two of these things out of the grip? Would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

User "BoxsterGT" on this board has the capability to make custom oil hoses that look OEM. I've never used any of his products personally, but he might be worth a call. He has seemed willing to help members of this BBS in the past.

wierd.

when i ordered my B&B parts (which i though were put together very nicely), i agree the saleperson was not so great.

didn't really give good advise, and sold me his racing outlets as my only option for a muffler... dunno if anyone has seen the racing outlset...but they are 6" of pipe, straightout.... hmmm....

ben bailed me out of that jam...

i feel like i should have been able to help you with that oil return hose, seeing as i no longer use my B&B headers, now running european racing headers, do i still need the new piece?

I think with the European racing headers you would be fine with the Standard factory "S" hose. Let me know if you want to swap parts and cash...

Cheers

k, i'll snap a picture after lunch to make sure we're talkig about the same piece.

i'm planning on a complete fluid change (brake, tranny, and engine oil), so that would make sense to swap then. I might even still have my old S hose.

hopefully i can help you out.
Nick

I would even buy you a new hose in the deal!

Just to confirm this hose goes from the oil tank to the engine mounted oil cooler. It is only about 18 inches long or so. The B&B one is a metal replacement with a silicone hose coupler on each end.

Cheers

k, i think i know the pipe.

layin on your back, looking up, with legs out the back of the car it is on the left hand side, out of the oil tank to the cooler.

my only problem is that i am tight for time. So tight in fact that i'm not even doing the oil and brake fluid change myself ( first time since i've owned the car someone else is chaning any of its fluids)... however i don't think my mechanic would mind doing the quick swap out.

i just made the appointment for the 10th, assuming any un-forseen complications i could probably have it sent over via canada post on the 11th.

hope that is soon enough for you.

I can send you my "S" hose tomorrow, or have a new one sent to the nearest Greyhound for you by friday.

Let me know, this is a huge favour that I will not forget.

Cheers

i don't need a new S hose, thx though, i have one that was used for ~3 month so its still perfect.

shall I send the pipe via greyhound or canada post? i don't think it'd be more then $10, for canada post ( in one of their padded envlopes)... i will send it off the afternoon after it is taken off (probably morning of the 11th after talking to my mech).

no worries about forgetting it, from everything that i can tell from the forum you seem to have done many favours for lots of others, probably deserve a few back.

- keep your eye out for a used triangulated strut brace for me
