Unzip the rear window and cover it with a towel. Pop the latches and then lift the top and push rearward. Make sure everything folds properly, then install tonneau cover.

do you really have to unzip the rear windshield? I never do. Is it really bad?

You might have crease (sp?) if you do not. On the other hand, if you put a small, thin, towel, you might be able to get away with it.

Anyway, when I had mine 'factory top', I often did not bother unzipping the windshield and I got away with it. I now have a 993 top on my '83SC and the windshield does NOT unzip. I just put a little towerl over it, fold, and away I go.

Oh, the lever needs to be in between the fold!!!! It tucks-in the top nicely.

To keep the top in good shape:

1. Never leave the top folded down for extended periods.
2. Always fold in the swinging bar as the top is going down.
3. Never drive without the tonneau in place.
4. Wash only with very mild detergent & treat it with a silicone water repellant every couple of years.

To keep the window in good shape:

1. Always unzip & cover with a towel before folding the canvas down.
2. Clean only with water & dry only with a soft cotton cloth.
3. Treat occasionally with a good clear plastic vinyl cleaner/preservative.
4. Never fold it in sub 0 temperatures.
