Frank, what color is your car? My mom lives in Boulder and keeps seeing some older 911's tho they could be Kia's for all she knows ;)

bad piece of metal now excorcized from car http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183587792.jpg
And temporary fitting of new pan http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183588221.jpg

I will fit all replacement panels and then have a weld-a -thon and get everything welded in.

Reading your thread for the 3rd time.
Fantastic stuff.

Here's a question:
- the shops have a rather nice jig, but how do you ensure the front a-arm mounting points are true when the new front suspension pan goes in?
- and if the repair involves the tank carrier and front suspension pan, how the hell do you ensure that you're all true...without a jig on some description?

Cheers,
Matthew

Bolt suspension up before welding.

I had to pass on the swap meet 'cause I was dog-tired from moving stuff out of my storage locker into a nearby rental garage in north Boulder and had no time or energy to load books. etc. You should stop by sometime!

I am going to have to remember....

Yeah pretty funny...but a few cars have passed through the shop since then. I will dig into my records and find out where those bad boys came from.

Hi,

Great project, maybe i missed it in the pages but could you tel me where you had the very cool 10k rpm rev counter made. I guess you cannot buy these anywhere so they can concert a stock 911/912 rev counter to this result?

Cheers Joost

I looks like the Weltmeistercrap I have on my car. On low profile 15" tires I have 5-6 cm between the ground and swaybar. It's low, I once lost the bar entering my garage... Totally ripped out the mounts.

speedo 03-05-2014 05:29 PM

Yeah, it was low...

That was the shakedown drive. He is higher now the car has been aligned, corner balanced and the suspension adjusted. The drops are behind and inside the leading edge of the tire. Anything the wheels can clear, the drops will clear too. The real risk ( before the suspension was sorted) was road debris...a 2x4 in the road or a brick or rock.

The little blue R clone has been in storage ....

...for the last two years. Bad on me, but that is the case. I have since restored a 71 soft targa and embarked (forgive me Father) on a resto of a 914-6. I have no extra space and am considering adding an RS still-born project to the fold. I will be bringing the little car back home (from heated storage) in the next two weeks as the snow melts. I want to put some miles on it (right now it has about 300) and see if I part with it or the softie. Gotta keep moving forward and without space that is hard to do.

Those wheels look cool !!

What Tire size are you running ?

Are those 6x15 fuchs?

Those look like 205x50x15's, which is what I had on my SWB. I had a custom sway bar built due to the fact the others that I saw hung down too low.

Good eye..

My preference for tires these days on my early cars is to run 205-50-15s. My recent resto runs the same tires with 15x7s all around.

N. Hollywood is the equivalent of a candy store. They are good, prices are reasonable and they can not only refurbish...but they can create really cool instruments. I sent them a worn out old 912 tach ...green faced, and I got them to convert it to a green faced 10k tach...way cool.
The drops make themselves look too low. They after the alignment and corner balancing...are not so low. Just shortening the drops would solve the problem. And as they are behind the leading edge of the wheel, the only problem would be if I ran over a brick....which I try very carefully not to do. Just like I avoid potholes on our trashed roads. Hello politicians

The softie looks great!
