Finally...some respect

Spent some time yesterday on the rear lid. Car needed some respect.
Grey works.

I trailered him to his special "home away from home"...for a short vacation while I build up a new engine
This one rocks, but I have a couple ideas for a special engine. Once built, I'll do the swap and this one will probably end up in the 914-6 that deserves some attention. I am starting with a 73.5 911/91 7R 2.4 longblock.

If someone needs this engine (for their correct restoration) before I dive into it...let me know. I would be happy to part with it, but you will need to provide me with a 2.4MFI longblock...hmm was that a small hint ;)

Drives too well. I needed space...and this solution gives me space. I had a few "tweaks" to make...rear "Porsche" script, maybe side banner in same grey, Nardi wood wheel, different seats...etc. I have very inexpensive offsite storage. The softie will join Axle in the fall to create more space. Less clutter means more gets accomplished. At least "that's the current story".
I am going to tear this 73.5 down shortly, so Matt, I probably could use those tools back if you are done? SmileWavy

Shoot me your address. They'll be on your doorstep before next weekend.

I'm not the owner but I have spoke(posted) with before. The car is a 912. The rims are 7x15 Fuchs. Not 100% on tires but believe they are 55 series. Hope this helps.

Thanks! That makes me think about the future of my own 912. I was doubtfull 7inches would fit but it seems it does... :)

I agree, it must be super tight. I didn't think it could be done either. I so remember him saying something about alignment or camber or something like that.

wheel fitment

I get this question all the time.
Myth: the widest wheel that can be used under a stock SWB rear quarter is a 15 x 6, and if you are lucky you MAY be able to push the wheel out using a thin spacer.
Reality: 15 x 7s fit in the rear with a bit of negative camber and rolled fender lips with plenty of clearance...(on my car). Because the cars were made by hand, maybe some were crafted differently and the space under the quarters is different...mine works.
For the front I used a pair of deep sixes. No fitment problems. My tires were/are 205-50-15 front and 205-55-15 rear.
This setup feels great, but one needs to take into consideration tbars and sway bars.
I also have the car lowered, corner-balanced and aligned at the same time. It is a rollerskate on steroids. May not appeal to someone that needs a cushy 16 way electrical sport seat with heat. I like to feel the road. My favorite Porsche advertisement....

Axle is hibernating ...

...with his second cousin Sorg the 71 SWT for the winter. Heated storage on battery tenders.

Lars,

You do incredible work. That is highway robbery for that car. Might be the bargain of the year.
