Very, very cool. I've been waiting to see the article finally make it in. Awsome car all the way around.

Dane was leading about 6-8 of us on a drive through his old stomping grounds in the the SE Washington, NE Oregon, and Idaho region the couple of days Randy took those photos. We had a blast. Great company, great roads, great cars. Now one of 'em is in a magazine. Way to go, Dane; congratulations.

Good article.. .my only issue is that it makes it look like a 2 month project to turn your regular SC into Dane's car...
"This SC proves just how good a relatively simple, carefully modified 911 can be to the point I m considering an impact-bumper project of my own....."

I love the part when the author talks abt the driving impressions and how it would make a 997 driver look like an idiot...
"Get the flow right, though, and this SC decimates the Loop at a pace that ll make a 997 work for a living. Sticking the front end with a bit of trail-braking, dialing in a little lock with the wheel, waiting for the outside tires to hook up and grip through the bend, and then feeding in all the 3.6 has to give demands your all as a driver but returns a drive you won t forget. The lucidity of this razor-sharp chassis is absolute, with every input returning a clear, discernable response...."

Awesome car! Wonderful article. Well done Dane (as if there was the need of an Excellence article to attest that).

I would say that was a good For Sale ad.

Nice Spiral Hwy shot there by Randy Wells. ...he did some good color-correction/tweaking too.

Great Article! congrats to Dane on his fine car and project! It is one of my favorites on this board. The modifications are well executed, but not so extreme as to make the car non-streetable or to make it stick out like a sore thumb.

That is one of the nicest 911s I have seen. Always like looking through the posts regarding it on here.

It's a great car - folks might want to post URLs for it here.

Here is a pic of the (old?) interior that was posted here at one time:

To my eye, that is one of the finest 911 projects ever. The interior is beautifully put together. If it were a 3.0 motor it would be impressive, but with the 3.6 it becomes an object of lust. If there were room in my garage, that car would have found a home there.

Nice article, nicer car!

The black inserts really add a nice touch to the interior.
The car was built close to my home, so I was able to watch the process from start to finish.

Pretty much a hand built / crafted Porsche.

Another Pelicaite in the mag!

Congrats Dane, your a pro at what ever you do. I was happy to talk again with you a few weeks ago and find that things are good for you again.

Randy did a fine job on the photos but as we all know, if the car is not correct then the photographer has no chance. You two do well together.

Another Pelicanite, R Gruppe, Northwest car that rocks in Excellence! Wow! The Pacific Northwest is flooded with great cars and the nice folks that own them.

Best luck Dane,
~Randy Jones

PS...........Mr.Higgins. Well said! In this area we get all the moisture we can stand. We don't need someone trying to "rain" on our parade.

Nice article, great pics, could have done with more of them I think.

I love the fit and finish on that car. The perfect alignment of the tailpipe in the rear bumper cut out is just one job I would guess was pretty time-consuming. Nice work throughout

Randy Wells' photos can make any car look better. He puts the same energy into his photo work as he does into driving and his efforts obviously show it.

This reads more like a Oscar speech than a forum post but I wanted to say it anyway.

The author Pete Stout gave most everyone one involved the well deserved credit for my project. From Wayne's forum where we all have a chance to see some wonderful projects to the two local shops who put 99% of it together for me.

The guys that didn't get thanked were Jack and Randy for the very real inspiration built into BB1/BBII and Iris. Stunning cars all on their own. Craig for his monster white 3.6 SC who was several years ahead of me when we met and made some of the most effective suspension suggestions (and most commonly thought unorthodox) early on from his own experience. And all the other guys I have forgotten but stole what I thought were their best ideas to incorporate into my car. All of which Pelican and Wayne makes possible by the forum. It is no wonder EXCELLENCE writers aren't the only car magazine guys slumming here for stories.

Gotta thank Alex for my first early car and first 3.6 experience. And then for his interior ideas and eventually for his motor.

I've been really lucky to have the help putting such a fun project together. Thanks again guys.

Matteo? You'd laugh if you knew the discussion that went into that last sentence between Pete and myself.

Then there is Pete. Pete Stout is not only a great guy but a real Porsche enthusist. And he can, really, drive. Having Pete take my car on a 200+ mile loop where he has driven literally every iconic Porsche starting with the '73 RS to the new Carrera was a huge personal thrill for me. While Richard (one of the few guys to note the car's potential in the parking lot) towed me along following Pete I got to see my car in action. I only asked that Pete not hold back with the car and give me his straight up opinion when he was finished. I already knew what it took to build the car. What I was really interested in was a professional's opinion of how the end result drove. I was never interested in a garage queen. And I could think of no one better able to make that comparison than Pete. When I first asked Pete if he was interested I really had no idea just how lucky I was he agreed. It wasn't like he "needed" to write another Porsche article.

Obviously I was thrilled that my little experience mirrored Pete's own thoughs on my car's abilities. Of course I didn't find all that out for sure until just a few weeks ago.... almost exactly a year later. The waiting made it all that much more fun. Having just recently driven a new 997 in a similar fashion only reinforced how true my first impressions were.

Hopefully my car will just lead to other great projects that we can all enjoy vicariously here on Pelican.
