They look very nice and functional, but is there any chance the ducts can be mounted from the inside? It would eliminate some of the boldness of the black on the front of the car. Otherwise, Cool!

If the ducts were painted red to match the valence, it would look nicer, IMO.

i would agree on both points, paint and mount. i think the paint would have made it so the outside mount was not so fugly. i could be happier with the look, but the cooling difference on my oil temps is amazing. went up mines rd last weekend with it near 95 and never got above 9 o'clock on my gauge. i had done the same run a month ago cooler air temp and the car got MUCH hotter. so much so i have 2 or 3 places i will stop for cooling on the run. no need this time.
thanks for the opinions.

You may want to put a screen on them. Keep the big crap out.

Very nice, the bigger the better. Definitely get some nice strong ss screen for them. Keep the duct size as large(3" preferred) as possible right to the rotor eye.

will be screening them from the back side this weekend. it is a stock carrera valence, the unit with the recessed fogs. i got the ducts from IO port racing supply, on the web. had to do a little surgery with a jig saw, and heat the ducts with a hair drier to get them to match the convex surface of the valence. i then epoxied them and clamped the hell out of them.
my only regret is that i did not paint the ducts as the valence. problem was that the guy at the paint shop had a window to get it done. i guess i will get acustomed to it.

Neat job, and very functional with the lower temp results. I like it and will try it. Nothing like keeping that original valance shape on front of the car.

FYI, there's a tool dip/rubber coating that very closely matches the Guards Red color. I used it on my cheesy screens. Comes in a spray can for easy, uniform application.
![]() I got the stuff from McMaster-Carr. I can provide the name of the actual product if anybody's interested. Can is at home.

The ducts look nice. I'd probably try to incorporate some type of black grill into the face (ala early 911) just to see what it looks like. Maybe a couple of photoshop experiments will help.
I also like to use expanded metal for protection. It even comes in Titanium.... http://www.mechanicalmetals.com/expandedmetal.html ![]()

My suggestion is to leave any screening off as it represents an additional flow restriction, or use larger mesh screen. You want as much air as possible. Bug cadavers can be washed out.
Imagine taking the wire mesh and closing up the air space between them. That hunk of metal represents the air restriction. Sherwood |

so if you want max flow, Sherwood is right, lose the mesh.

RE: Flow restriction. Is that why the screened openings for the 934 were so large? To offset the flow restriction?
Mine are for show. I hate fog lights, and the openings look weird without the fogs. Screens are kinda temporary 'til I feel like running the hose and putting up the $ for the cooling plates. Right now, 993 scoops will have to do. ![]()

Actually the screens are necessary, you wouldn't believe the junk that will be collected in there, and in your rotors.

Bill,
I think he has the holes in his valence for the oil cooler not brake ducts. Am I right k911sc? Steve Weiner suggested I not put screen in my valence cut-outs in order not to impede airflow. Troy

troy you are correct sir!
i put the screens at the back in the ABS fitting so rocks, pebbles, and bugs (which i am picking out of the screen often) would not make it to the cooler. putting it at the back, and i am no sharp tool, but i figured the area at the opening of the duct would create enough force as to not have a 2 1/2" round area of screen would obstruct too much air.
