Spark plug questions
I have a 67S and a 69E and Bosch says to use the platinum plugs W3DPO for both cars. Problem is these plugs cost $14 each. I have some nos Bosch W250 P21 the original owners manual says to use : W265 P21 or W265 T2SP.
I have a few questions: 1. Will the nos W 250 work? In other words is it that different than W 265? 2. Is the W3DPO the best modern plug to use? 3. If I do need to use W3DPO is there somewhere I can get them for less? Thank you, David Hanning

A cheaper alternative to the W3DPO's are W3CS... same heat range, just a copper plug, instead of platinum. 3 heat range plugs are too cold anyway (street or track), so you could easily move up a heat range to a W4CS or something.

W3CS plugs are silver, not copper ones, and while very good for sessions of WOT, I'd recommend the W4CS as a more practical choice.

Great info, thank you. A local supplier actually sold me WR 4 DPO and I was going to get mad and send them back for Bosch's recommended W 3DPO but if I'm reading this right sounds like WR 4 DPO is a better choice for 67S and 69E. In the future I'll get the silver W4CS to save some $.
Any idea if the nos W 250 platinum will work for my cars? Is the W4CS definately better since I have a good supply of the W 250 on hand. Thanks again, David Hanning Portland OR

Even the warmer FR5DTC or FR6DLC /DTC's would work fine. Those are used in the 964 and later model engines. They'd certainly burn cleaner and resist carbon deposits better than the colder 3 or 4 heat range plugs.
I run FR5DTC's in my big boosted 3.2 motor and they perform great. If I was tracking it though, I'd run a 4 heat range, but for street, 5 or 6 is fine too.
