howdy,

im looking into a project right now, thinking of building a 1973 RSR replica (inspired by a lot of rally videos and Black Beauty II). could anyone give me pointers on what aspects of engineering to consider, what problems have been encountered in the past and possible solutions for those problems, recommended parts or companies to use, fabrication, cleaning, assembly techniques, and any good reading on the subject, etc.? i would be very much appreciative, as this will be my first project car and i'd like to get it "right" the first time. thanks a lot!

In case you haven't seen it, here is a thread on some of the more recent/current RSR clones in the works

There's probably not a fool proof formula to building one, unless you outsource to a shop whose done these, and that's major bucks. I'd say get yourself a good candiate car and come up with a plan of attack... Only you know how deep you want to get into it, full or partial disasembly, hands on or help on the wings. The more you take off and modify, the more work/money you'll add to the the total build. As to the parts, most new parts can be acquired from Pelican, and other places such as WEVO, elephant racing, rebel racing, etc. As to problems encountered, in my case, there's been a few, but they may not apply to you unless your build is exactly like mine. For basic fabrication, dust off the ole yellow pages and look for someone local, if you don't know how to weld, find a reputable shop or individual with some good experience.
