Finally... I bought a 72!
Well, I guess I fell in love with these cars as an 8 year old, so I am pretty excited that I finally have my first 911!
Car belonged to a really nice guy in the east end of Toronto. He has his own Porsche shop, seems to do a number of race cars, and he is a Porsche club driving instructor. Real professional guy, and this car has been his for 10 years. He built the 2.7 in it from a 77, along with its transaxle. It has Raceware headstuds, RS pistons and cylinders, solex camshafts, weber carbs, SSI's and a Porsche sport muffler. I am still getting used to the car, but its quick and handles like a go kart (note how low it is!). Its also loud! Not used to that, but it makes a wonderful sound, especially after 4k rpm. Best of all, I've had it on the hoist a couple of times, and it seems completely solid and has no structural rust. Its original colour was viper green, but it was repainted a number of years ago. I would love to get it back to green one day, but its not in the cards right now. I would like to put the front bumper trim back on her, and a set of Euro H4's. Oh, and the window tint has to go.

Congrats. I remember the recent ad as I've been shopping like you. The next time I looked at the ad, I saw it was sold. Nice car and it was right priced IMO. Enjoy the longhood.

Wow, I have a 911 and still find myself jealous. That is a beauty of a car. And what's more you get to be one of "them" - the 4 door 911 clubsters. Sweet ride. Welcome!

I like that color, but I also like Viper Green, so I can understand why you want to take it back. But I really like the cleaner look of the front without the big rubber bumperettes. I don't know if you can do the trim without those or not, that would not be that bad. Just my two cents on the matter. It's your baby, and you can do what you want. Welcome!

I must be slow tonight, it is getting late here...what is a "4 door 911 clubsters"?
Thanks guys for the comments, I really appreciate it. After 24 years of wanting a 911, I'm pretty happy! Oh, and I agree, the front end does look nice and smooth without the trim. I think I have settled on the deco trim without the bumperettes, which I believe was how they came in Europe (Britain?). Who knows, maybe the changes are only necessary to make it "my 911" if you know what I mean?

Nice Ride, sounds like you came upon very together car, might want to consider doing just the H4s before deciding on bumper overiders, it will be much sleeker without the vertical distraction of the bumperettes. Very cool right now, enjoy all of it!

great car, enjoy that 2.7 in the light longhood body, i bet it makes really nice noises.
clean engine bay as well, and if you ever have the time that dino steering wheel would clean up nice (pull off) and a really good scrub... i'd defiently do the H4's and maybe even an S front bumper... nice car and congrats.

Congrats, you found a great car. 72' with 2.7 Solex.. it doesn't get much better. Your plans for the car sound exactly like what I would do. You can't beat the stock look although I must say I also like the look of no trim with no caps on the Fuchs is a great look as well. Kinda like a 911R.
Enjoy.

I think the s or rs bumper would set it off, and maybe the ducktail, but other than that, I would leave it like it is, except maybe for a little detailing of your interior and engine bay. I like your car more everytime I reopen this thread. Awesome~

Check out http://www.911vtk.com/ . Great looking car and the no trim gives a nice lightweight look. Keep it as is but obtain the parts you need to put correct if you wanted to.
