Mounting 87 cooler on 80's tub?

How do I go about drilling a hole and putting a threaded insert into the tub for a cooler upgrade. My 78sc had this 87 cooler on it and had a threaded hole drilled in the tub. How do I go about doing this? And where do I get a threaded insert like this. Thanks

I think you are asking a lot of us to understand your question with out some pictures to help orient to your issue. Are you talking about the front oil cooler?

Not good with the digital camara. Basicallly I have a 87 oil cooler which has a mount on the bottom. There needs to be a threaded hole to mount this on the 80sc tub that I have. How do I go about drilling a hole in the tub for a threaded insert of sorts? Where do I get the insert? My 78sc has this threaded insert for the 87 oil cooler, so how do I go about doing this? Thanks

IF you have no problem using a 1/4 x 20 US thread bolt, Home Depot sells these neat rubber plugs that fit into a hole such as you'd drill into your car. Inside the rubber plug there is a threaded collar. As you tighten the bolt into the threads withing the rubber plug, it expands and the bolt tightens and will hold the cooler. I used them on my previous motorhome to mount solar panels to the roof. Never had a problem with them ripping loose and a lot of wind went past those large solar panels.

Almost looks like a case saver that they used on my 78sc.

I think before you drill anything, you should get someone to help you with taking the pictures, post them, and then we can really provide help.
