Question Installing c2 (964) rockers - Ideas?

I am in the process of installing some c2 / 964 rockers on my SC. I picked these up from Cory on off the used parts section. I have not made lots of progress, I am in the process of fitting and wanted to get some ideas for fitting these to the car. They are two piece and I have the main part attached by a screw in the front fender and some body tape along the top edge. I know this will never hold so I am looking for other ways to attach them. Any one done some like this before? Other question I had, the 2nd small part seems to lift off 1/4 off the body when overlapping the other rocker panel piece. Not sure if I need to fill in the gap or try mounting it under the main rocker.

You will need to sand down the lip on the main rocker so that it is the same thickness as the lip on the rear piece.

cheers

You may also try using some heavy duty two sided tape to mount the rockers to the body. There is a few automotive ones around that should help hold them on.

Cheers

The small piece does fit sort of snug at the top. I also considered building the fiberglass up on the small piece close to the other FG part. Then taper it down as I go up.

I used a heavy duty 3M plastic Velcro, they are also bolted on the bottom and screwed on the ends. They were off a 91 and installed them to my 84, some of the material was removed from behind the rocker due to the thickness of the Velcro. I plan on using the factory gasket to fill in the gap along the top edge.

I think you have the same bumpers as mine! The double sided tape does work but it is costly and hard to remove once on. I am pretty sure I can FB some bolts to the back side of the rockers and widen a hole where the original rockers mounted. At least towards the rear tire I can get my hand behind the mounting point. The drivers side will be a little easier because after I removed the old AC line it left some mounting points.

Thanks for the pic, your car looks great!

84 Eruo,

Do you have a pic that shows how snug the rocker is to the car? Also, how did you determine if the rocker was level or what "lines" the rocker should follow? I just had mine go with the door line, it looks like yours starts a little lower and then goes up in the back.

No pics with me now, I will take a few next week and post. Used the door as a reference, here is another pic.
