I'm calling that 'John Deere Green'. Go to your local farm supply store and pickup a rattle can and check. I'll bet the north forty and a farrowing sow that's what it is.

I think you're right. I can go down to the Fleet Farm and get touch up paint.

Growing up in the Midwest, that color is seared onto my retina. It's pretty cool on a Porsche, don't you think? Are you gonna buy it?
Good luck finding those matching yellow Recaro seats.

Regards,

I know it's supposed to be a '79, but the same book lists 273 Fern Green for '78, so maybe... It's pretty, especially if it's a non-metallic!

Here's the PPI done by Chris at Moto-Delta
79 SC 110,000 miles. He's asking 13,900. I'm hoping to make the 4 hour deive this weekend to see and hopefully bring it home.
Any thoughts on this info.

Suspension:

• Struts are Bilstein. Appear to be recent/working well.
• Sway bar bushings intact
• Swing arm and front torsion bushings good.
• Car drives straight and level, no creaking on corners.
• Some overspray on spring plates. Pivot plates have surface rust.
• Body mounts solid
• Steering rack tight
• l&r tie rod end boots torn
• Brakes work well. 75% pad life

Tires & wheels

• conti sport contacts - 80% life left
• 205/55/15 front - 225/50/16 rear
• Ronal wheels. no damage but significant white overspray on left rear wheel.

Body

• Underbody in good shape, no rust
• Recent "tape and paint" respray. (ie windows, etc.. not removed for painting)
• no evidence of substantial accident or rust repair on body/fenders
• "wave ding" in passenger door.
• nickel sized ding on upper driver door
• some rust on passenger side door sill. 1"x1" section appears to be "soft" from this.
• 1/4"x1.5" chip in right front fender (near wheel lip)
• Aftermarket fiberglass turbo tail
• Aftermarket fiberglass front valance. Cracked badly on left side of oil-cooler cutout. Very loose.
• Targa top ion good shape except for 1" tear in center (owner mentioned it occured just yesterday)
• Quarter inch paint chips in front bumper. Two 1/4" x 2" scrapes on drivers side front.
• Two crescent shaped gouges in drivers rear fender, appear to be filled in with touchup.
• No evidence of fiberglass filler (Bondo) on body.
• Front and rear windsheild seals "stiff". No evidence of leaks. Side window seals still quite flexible.
• Deck lid doesn't pop when release pulled. REquires 2 ppl.
• Hood safety latch over center. Possible spring misalignment.
• Fog lights loose.

Interior:

• Excellent shape with new leather.
• Dash has plastic dash cover over brown leather.

Engine:

• Right and left side cam-housing covers leaking
• Possible pulley seal leakage.
• Right side oil-pressure sender seepage
• Right and left lower valve covers show seepage.
• Both heat exchangers rusted. Left side has no fan hose. Front half rusted open (box not header). Right side has tear from road debris
• May be slight exhaust tick. No evidence of broken head studs.
• Engine runs well, quiet, no valve noise
• paint overspray on right cam cover
• Air pump removed.
• oil pressure good. 30psi@ idle.
• Certain amount of cosmetic "patina" on engine, hoses starting to dry out. No mechanical issues related to this.

LEAKDOWN Test: (done at engine operating temp, 100 psi)
• Cylinder 1: 7% (rings)
• Cylinder 2: 8% (rings)
• Cylinder 3: 5% (rings)
• Cylinder 4: 6% (rings)

To me, the price sounds pretty high considering the cheap re-spray, rust issues, body damage/dings/gouges, torn Targa top, and no Fuchs wheels.
If you are set on an SC Targa, you should be able to find a clean, no-issues car in that price range with a little patience.

Sounds like it needs some work - updating, routine maintenance. There's a handfull of cosmetic issues as well. To fix the oil leaks, you'll have to drop the engine. You'll want to get the Carrera hydrualic tensioners and CIS popoff valve installed, too. I'm thinking 13.9K is way high for a dinged up and not too well sorted out SC.
Sounds like an 8-10K car at best. Opinions may vary.

But it is a 911 and once you sit in it, it could be all over for you.

Hope it works out for the best, whatever you decide. There are others for sale, too.

Regards,
