Ran over curb; front end damage

I ran over a curb at parking speed in a lot and went right over it. I scraped a little of the undercoating off my fuel tank where the material crimps, and also the two tow hooks attached to the frame look bent. All the A/C stuff seems to have been protected by its metal casing. Where the frame tube meets the front end bushing, the metal is a bit scratched and dinged up. Car seems to ride perfectly normal and I can't think there's any frame damage from a slow speed curb hop. Anyone care to shed some light?

I've seen much worse, and have had cars with much worse. The only thing sketchy is the dent in the torsion tube, though it doesn't look bad. Be sure to clean off the scratched areas on the bottom and recoat with undercoating.

Looks like you may have cracked the welds on the threaded inserts for the 17mm bolts. You'll know for sure as soon as you put a socket on them.

All three of mine were broken off and I just had them welded back on at a muffler shop for $100 yesterday.

Cheers,

Joe

As L.J. said the torsion tube and the torsion bar sometimes are a tight fit especially when combining shot stock bushings that have flowed out of round and oversized torsion bars. Rubbing during suspension movement can be a real pain. Ask me how I know....

As long as your's is no rubbing you are fine. If it rubs you get vibration in the chasis during cornering or accel/decel. Rattle-can the scratched area to prevent rust formation,

Ingo

I just looked over that torsion tube picture and it's definitely an optical illusion. The picture makes it look like there's a hole in it and a big dent, but it's actually perfectly round and barely scratched. I checked both sides with a light and they're fine. The worst of it is definitely the bottom of the bushing area where it looks like it's pinching the bushing very tightly on the driver side and the passenger is clearly more normal. It drives normal so other than rust proofing it next time I have it jacked up, hopefully I'm fine.

I appreciate the advice.
