Olive Green I would say (if it's an original colour)

Thanks, That's what the ad said but I've seen other olive greens that looked more brownish.

I love green on Porsches. For some reason I think it fits them really well. The Olive/tan combination in the 2nd pic is just perfect especially on a spoilerless SC or earlier. Tom Clancy thought so too...

Olive Green is definitely more of a brown-green. The color above might be Conifer Green, or one of the several other green shades.

Just a guess...but try "Leaf Green", an earlier color...may have been special ordered? I dunno if it was a standard or optional SC color...

are you sure that pic is olive (I'm sure it's your car, but maybe the pic looks off)? You can currently order new porsches in olive... it looks very different.

Yep, that's Olive. The newer shade is "Dark Olive"

Here are a couple more Olive 911's:

I don't think it's Leaf Green either, as it looks to be darker.
Here's Leaf Green:

It might also be an older green called Gelbgrun (Golden Green)

I think it browner and darker than leaf green...

Do you know what light the pic was shot in? Early or late sunlight is reddish and can make the green more olive or browner.

That would be Olive Green for 1979.

No matter what itīs called, it is really nice to see some true colors on a car instead of the current hype of silver, gray, silver, silver....

You mean Arctic Silver and Seal Gray aren't to your liking, livi? Other than those two colors (along with Speed Yellow), does Porsche make cars in any other colors today?

Seems to me there is a kind of contradiction painting a true sports car in a discrete color. Model diversion aspiring to reach the broader masses instead of just us 'passionists' probably dictates a more politically correct paint scheme..

Lookeehere! I am driving a Porsche! But I donīt want anyone to notice and think I am pretentious posh prick..

The "P Car Red Book" states for the 79 model year that there were 3 standard colors in green. 265 OakGreen Metallic, 274 Olive Green, and 275 Light Green Metallic. Does your car still have its color code tag on it? Could it have been either a "special wish" color or reprayed over the years.

It's not my car. It's just ad I saw for a car I'm considering. The ad said olive green but I was confused because some of the other olive greens I've seen were more brown/yellow. Thanks for all the replies
