911 Tranny Case damage / Value

Acquired this tranny last year. The case has damage. Can anyone tell me if this can be repaired? Not sure what year 911 this is out of. I guess if the case is aluminum it can be welded. Maybe its Mag...? If it can't repaired what is it value if the internal condition in unknown?

Casting number 901.301.101.OR (This is stamped on the side)
901.301.301.2R (This is stamped on the side)

Serial number: 7101596 (this is stamped on the bottom)

That is a ’70-’71 type 911 transmission. It is a magnesium casting. I suspect it would be very difficult to repair by welding. You could put an aluminum strap across the break and bolt it through the bell housing on the flats on either side of the break.

What is your intended use? This transmission can be used in your 914 if you put the ring gear on the other side of the pinion and relocate the breather. This allows you to use the larger 225 mm clutch. With a simple custom clutch cable you can get rid of the clutch cable pulley. You can also use the larger 108 mm CV joints.

Best,
Grady

Thanks for confirmation that it is a mag. case. I don't need to use it on my 914. I have two side shifter tranny's. I want to sell this as a unit or for parts. I don't know the value at this point...Can you assist?
