disassembling H4 assmblies

I just purchased a set of h4s with black rims from our host. I have arranged with a local paint shop to paint the rims to match my exterior color. I disassembled one tonight and did not have any problems except for the final step of removing the two chrome plated alignment screws from the rims. They have some kind of double locking fasteners without any way to grip them on the backside.
Question: do these screws need to be removed before I get the rims painted? It looks like the paint may not stick too well to them plus it seems very difficult to get the screws loose. Has anyone had experience with this situation?

Thanks

I went with trim rings based on my body shop. The screws do not come out, at lease easily and painting around them will produce quwationable results.

headlight rings

You dont want to remove the screws.Buy a pair of paintable "rings" for your headlights and have them painted to your paint code (use Glasurit for the best match from the code),its the best way to go.
