Third Brake Light Conversion

Did a search but didn't hit on what I'm looking for. I'm looking to convert from the periscope 3rd brake light on my '87 Targa to an inside unit. What is the forum's thoughts on going with an original inside look or an LED type set up? My goal is more light out there without being garish.

72T,

Not to be a jerk but search 3rd brake light LED and you will be incredibly happy with what you find.

I've done the conversion to a stock upper inside brake light. But the guys have found some, almost invisible LED options that are cheap and effective.

Have fun, Scott

I used a Hella led light on my Targa (purchased from JC Whitney). Pretty much a necessity with today’s brain dead drivers texting on their phones!

My LED strip pulses 4 times before going solid red. Obnoxious but effective. Many new cars now have the pulse feature. Details in one of the threads above.

Really? I have yet to see a new car come factory with a pulsing 3rd brake light. What cars are you referring to?
