Time to build another car, if you are down to wondering about decals! Personally, I am a big badge delete fan and voted for no badge.

How about the emblem that came on the car from the factory ?

I voted No RS, because it isn't. BUT I am a fan of graphics. I have the same set up and wanted side stripes, but the "porsche" on the IROC was way too big. I'm going with my own interpretation on the triple side stripe. It is a mix of 914/early rs/rsr. And don't listen the color police. If I told you guys what color I am doing, everyone will say I am crazy. Next sunday I should have them on.

Like said before, best thing about vinyl is it comes off!

I mean... having trouble selling this car? Even after it appeared in EXCELLENCE? Different strokes...maybe not everybody agrees with your strokes of what rhe "perfect" hot rod 911 is. You might contact "ED" at excellence, he who gave such a glowing report on your car...perhaps he'd like to put his personal money on the line? ;)

I like this one - says it all!

Mark??? Bourbon coming out my nose...LOL!

island911 06-25-2007 07:55 PM

WILSON . . . That is Soooo WRONG.

Don't you know that the "R" has to be Red?

Sheesh. . . a Black "R" ... why that is completely phoney and pretentious.

For the gawd given purity of the look like so:

And btw, the placement of a faux sticker is serious technical stuff.

oh wait, is my sarcasm showing again? :D

I'm kidding of course . .. the black "R" looks just right.

i would like you to go one step farther.
take off the duck... get a cleaner profile, then just say 911 (subscript) R....

thats more the theme of your car IMO...

Loose the duck and you'd have to pull the splitter off the front as well. Car would be all over the road at any kind of speed without both. No fun at all, scary in fact with the front bumper as is without some kind of tail.

Respraying some paint chips next week so I might do a IROC tail while the paint is mixed up.

Liked Tyson's idea of pulling the rear reflector though. No need for a "grill" back there as I get plenty of cooling as is. But cool idea as well. Great input guys, thanks and keep them coming.

Your car looks great the way it is. You already are pushing it with the "vanity plate" so leave it alone. The thing I like about your car is that it is understated.

This reminds me of another thread from a guy in washington wondering what moniker he should affix to his car.... :) :) (over in the turbo forum)

Cheers

Looking forward to seeing what you're up to...

Naked.

But if some kind of decal was prescribed I would probably use the black plastic 'RS' emblem from the 964 and put it smack dab centered on the rear lid.

Porsche_monkey 06-26-2007 04:08 AM

Send me the car, I will evaluate performane versus esthetics for the next 12-24 months and return with some tasteful badging in the appropriate places.

stryfe101 06-26-2007 04:59 AM

i'd say leave the duck, put the rs badge where you want it (in the lower corner) and ditch the reflector for some vents...they would really play off the R lights

Gray

Facey 06-26-2007 06:37 AM

well... i believe you might be mistaken about taking off the duck would send you all over the road.

my car had a front spoiler and a turbo tail... i took off the tail and found very little change, however if anything was noticeable it was that the nose was down a little more, which is actually confidance inspiring...

but seriosuly... I would pull off the reflector, drill some circles and add some mesh behind them, take off the deckild, add the same meshing into the grill location, and centered under the lid have a 911 subscript R, probably with a colour change, ie 911 in black with the R is silver...

- very nice car, not trying to be offensive with my opinions in any way... just stating what i would do to make that car a little cleaner IMO...it is already very clean.SmileWavy
