Replacing Front Shock
I want to replace the front shocks on my '87 3.2. Without digging around too much for the information, let me describe how I think it is supposed to be done. Don't laugh: As I look at the parts diagram, it looks like all you have to do is jack up the car, take off the tire, take off the top nut that holds the insert in located in the trunk in proximity to the fender, slide the insert out pulling from the top or bottom?, place the bottom of the new insert into the bottom hollow spot of the strut, place the tube of the strut over the top of the insert and put the top nut back on to attach it to the brace located in the trunk. Is it more complicated than I described? If so, I will take it to the shop.

That's about it. Pretty straight forward but, let me add a couple things.
-Make sure you know which brand of strut housing (Boge, Koni, Bilstien) you have so you can get the right insert. -Tape the outside of your fender arch so you don't scratch it. -There is a nut holding the insert in the housing. A large pipe wrench or Very large Channel Locks will work to take it off. -Be careful not to put your foot on a brake line when you are de-compressing the suspension to remove the insert. -If you have bilstiens, there is a pin at the bottom of the strut (near the ball joint) that has to be removed completely before the strut can be pulled out. I may be missing something but this is a pretty straight forward job and you will be able to figure it out.

That's pretty much "it"....but only in the same way as saying playing classical piano is only hitting the right keys at the right time.
Let me ask.... you say" without digging around too much for the informtation".. Ahhh..... why not do that? You might want to flesh-out this procedure with a bit more detail---> http://www.tech-session.com/kb/index.php?article=7 - Wil
