AC condensor blower fuse

I'm going up to Montreal in a few days, and I'm going to do a bit of tweaking on my dad's 86 Carrera cab while I'm up there. On my "to do" list is installing a fuse for the AC condensor fan.

From reading other threads, I had the impression that there is a kit that allows you to install a fuse without cutting and splicing.

I've done a few searches, and found plenty of threads imploring that this is a must-do, but no info on where to get the kit. I can't seem to find it in the Pelican catalog either.

I'd prefer not cut & splice a fuse if there is a cleaner install available.

Porsche part number 911.612.077.00 is the new wiring harness ( with 7.5A fuse) that plugs in.

Also found in Porsche Technical Bulletin "Fuse for front A/C condenser fan" August 12, 1988.... part identifier 8753 .... Group 8, number 8803. Model 911 Carrera, 911 Turbo.

Just pick up one of these at the local auto parts store for a couple of bucks.

You *could* do that....

But for a few bucks more you could have the factory part with the proper plug-end terminations that match the original harness where they plugged together......

Depends on how crude-but-effective you want to go...the choice is yours.

It's an immaculate, unmolested, 67k car so I'd prefer to go with the factory part. If it's not available from PP then I'll check with the dealer. What's the part cost, approximately?

I haven't priced it lately....AFAIK it was $20 or so some time ago.

Maybe pricey...but fits like a factory part as it should.

$20 is certainly reasonable for a slick install. Just didn't want to pay a $50 or $75 Porsche tax

Thanks again!

Check out today's prices..it might have gone up like so many air-cooled 911 parts lately.

I paid $25 for the harness, 911.612.077.00, back in March of this year. Took about ten seconds to install.

I'm having alot of fun "molesting" mine ( rear A/C condenser fans, LCD screen, nav system, front oil cooling fan switch add, keyless entry, back-up camera, ETC!) .....reminds me, I need to pick up some more wire!
