Wow, very cool color.

Neither standard or paint to sample. The code of 009 is for Magenta, which was a special order color in '74 (as well as other years). Is the entire car this color now, if so could you post some photos. I have not seen this color on a '74 Carrera before. Thanks.

PS
'8' is where the car was painted, which is same # used on most '73 Carrera paint tags.
'1' is the paint manufacturer, which is Lesonal.

Edit:

'1' is for Lesonal made paint

'2' is for Glasurit made paint

Taking the Carrera back to Magenta will give you a very unique and stunning car.

In the August 07 issue of Excellence, there is a feature on the October 1973 IROC series race, with what looks to be a 73' and a 74' RS in magenta. Supposedly the only known and published photos of the event.

Brian,
About 10 years ago there was a '74 Carrera Targa owned by a guy named Barlow in the UK who had a show car in that colour.
It was featured in the PC Great Britain club magazine several times and is in the Tobias Achiele 911 Forever Young book on page 241.
NOT a Sunday morning colour IMHO!

Cheers,
Dennis.

Here's the best picture from the Excellence article. I know it's not very good but ...
