Its called Gulf Blue from the Gulf oil company sponsorship of the 917 race cars in the early seventies. The car has the ssi heat exchangers with a 73 Rs exhaust and of course the 40ida webers.I drove the car from Chicago where i picked it up from my brother and drove it back to the west coast (Vancouver area) with my 18 year old son.We averaged 85 or 90 on the I-90 with a few side trips to see Mt.Rushmore ect. and got almost 21mpg which is a lot better than I expected. The car ran flawlessly the whole way...

BTW, tho I'm a former owner, I am not responsible for getting the car into its advanced "sanitary" state. (I just maintained it and drove it for a few years). The former owner who spent a fortune on the car and lavished a lot of cosmetic care on it, is called Lee G. I bought it from him.
I'm glad the car found a good home. It's also nice that it's back on the West Coast (it was one of the few cars imported into the US thru the Port of Portland). |
